چکیده

Purpose: The present study aimed at evaluation of SD TB Ag MPT 64 Rapid kit for confirmation of isolates of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC) grown from clinical samples. Material & Methodology: The present study included a total of 105 mycobacterial growths recovered from various pulmonary and extra-pulmonary clinical specimens in a tertiary care center. Culture was performed using Lowenstein Jensen’s media and BacT ALERT 3D automation system. The growths were subjected to both Accuprobe culture identification (Genprobe, San Deigo, CA) and SD TB Ag MPT 64 rapid kit (Standard Diagnostics, INC, Korea). SD TB Ag MPT 64 rapid kit was evaluated in the present study using Accuprobe as gold standard. Results: The sensitivity and specificity of SD TB Ag MPT 64 rapid kit was 92.3% and 100% respectively. Conclusion: SD TB Ag MPT 64 rapid kit is easy to perform, rapid and cheap test which can be used as a screening tool for rapid confirmation of the MTBC isolates in a routine tertiary care setting.

Production of MPT-64 recombinant protein from virulent strain of Mycobacterium bovis

Tuberculosis (TB) is a zoonotic infectious disease common to humans and animals which has been caused by a rod shaped, acid fast bacterium, called Mycobacterium bovis. The rapid and sensitive detection is a great challenge for TB diagnosis. The virulent strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC) have 16 different regions of difference (RD) in their genome which encode some important a...

Evaluation of an immunochromatographic assay for rapid identification of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex in clinical isolates.

Identification of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTC) remains slow. Over the years, several new technologies have been proposed to accelerate and simplify the detection of MTC. In this context, we evaluated an immunochromatographic assay (ICA) (BIO-LINE SD Ag MPT64 TB) for rapid identification of MTC, based on detection of a specific MPT64 antigen of MTC. We have tested it on i) mycobacter...

Utility of Antigen Detection Test and Polymerase Chain Reaction in the Differentiation of Tuberculous and Non-tuberculous Mycobacteria

Objectives: Cultivation and identification of mycobacteria to species level remains difficult and time-consuming. Hence, easy and rapid diagnostic methods are necessary for the differentiation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) from non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM). The present study aims to detect and differentiate MTB from NTM isolated from clinical samples by immunochromatographic test (I...

Identification of TBc: Using MTP 64 protein and cord formation.

Tuberculosis (TB) is an airborne infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The genus Mycobacterium comprises over 150 species. Non-tuberculosis Mycobacteria are the cause of opportunistic infections and frequently presents with similar clinical features like tuberculosis so species identification is important for management. The current study was designed for presumptive diagnosi...

تشخیص سریع مایکوباکتریوم‌های آتیپیک در بیماران با علایم سل ریوی: ارزیابی لوکوس (QUB 3232 (590bp با روش VNTR

Background and Objective: Identification of atypical mycobacterium (Non tuberculosis Mycobacterium NTM) is important because of the worldwide propagation of these organisms. Recently, molecular studies have identified the specific loci for mycobacterium species by DNA - finger printing methods, but these methods are time-consuming and expensive. In this study, in addition to hsp65 PCR-RFLP meth...
